Seahawk Charters is owned and operated by George Isherwood. Raised in Oak Bay, and with 30 years experience on the waters of southern Vancouver Island, he brings a wide range of expertise to the company, as well as an outstanding safety record.
George has operated fishing charters, sightseeing and whale watching tours, and guided kayak tours. He has also conducted diving charters and contract diving for underwater repairs and maintenance, and marine salvage operations. A Coxswain for the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, he is a fully licensed Commercial Mariner with the highest industry safety standards recognized through Transport Canada including: Canadian Coast Guard Rigid Hull Inflatable Operators Training certificate Marine First Aid, Level B certificate, Transport Canada Marine Emergency Duties A2 Course, Transport Canada Restricted Radio Operators certificate, Marine Commercial, Transport Canada Small Vessel Operators Proficiency Certificate, Whale Watching Standards certificate.
George also certified as a Dive Master, Open Water Diver, Advance Diver, Rescue Diver, Deep Diver, Night Diver, Nitrox Diver and Wreck Diver.
Seahawk Charters operate the Black Sheep, a 26 ft. Seaswirl Striper Walk Around powered by a Suzuki 250 hp four stroke outboard and a Suzuki 9.9 hp kicker. The Black Sheep has a cuddy cabin with flush toilet, and is fully equipped with modern radar, GPS & chart plotter, depth sounder, etc. Fishing equipment is high end with Scotty electric downriggers. Crab traps are checked on a daily basis. All required floatation devices, first aid supplies, etc. are aboard. The Black Sheep is fully certified by Transport Canada.
